Man arrested after allegedly beating teen so badly he requred surgery on his jaw, A 33-year-old Cartersville man was arrested Thursday for allegedly beating a teen so badly he required surgery for his jaw.
So far, investigators have not said what prompted the assault, which occurred while the two were playing basketball inside a church’s gym.
They have charged Mr. Marcus Deanglo Henderson with aggravated battery for the incident, which happened on April 23, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Investigators said the 17-year-old was playing basketball at an Adairsville Church gym when he was assaulted by another player.
“The victim received a broken jaw during the assault requiring surgery to repair the damage,” Sheriff Clark Millsap said in an emailed statement.
Through witnesses and video surveillance taken from the gym, deputies were able to identify Mr. Henderson as the suspect, the sheriff said.
He was booked into the Bartow County Jail on Thursday, officials said.
No further details were provided on the teen’s condition on Friday.
